Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA)
ADDA or Asansol Durgapur Development Authority has been established under the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning & Development) Act 1979, (West Bengal Act XIII of 1979) merging the Asansol Planning Organization, Asansol (estd. 1964) and the Durgapur Development Authority, Durgapur (estd. 1958) from 1st April, 1980. It has been spearheading the cause of industrial, infrastructural and other development activities under its jurisdiction which extends from Panagarh to Barakar with a total area of 1615.90 sq. km. covering about 30 lakhs of both rural and urban population.
Acting as a change agent for infrastructural growth and technological advancement, ADDA is busy giving shape to a host of industrial estates, growth centres, industrial & residential townships and innumerable opportunities of growth and prosperity. Some major achievements could be obtained in developing quality urban infrastructure in the region. An over all urban renewal, being the principal objective, ADDA is committed to prosper the dreams of the region.
Planning initiatives of ADDA
Preparation of City Development Plan: Asansol Urban Agglomeration has been selected as “Mission City” under Jwaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The “City Development Plan” of entire area consisting of all five Municipal bodies have been prepared along with the vision documents and the same have been duly approved by Government of India.
Preparation of Perspective Plan – 2025: Indian Institute of Technology has been engaged by ADDA for the preparation of Perspective Plan – 2025 for Asansol Durgapur Planning area. The draft plan has been prepared and finalized. The final document is under preparation.
Land Acquisition Planning
In order to meet the ever increasing demand for residential and industrial land, ADDA is presently involved in extensive planning for Land acquisition at Durgapur, Raniganj and Asansol.
